1 Description It occurs a white, crystalline powder.

(A) When heated, it melts, swells up and bums, and an odour of burnt sugar is perceptible.
(B) Dissolve 0.1 g in 10 ml of water, add 3 ml of potassium cupri-tartrate solution', the solution is blue and clear. Heat to boiling; a copious red precipitate is formed.
3 Appearance of solution The solution is clear, not more intensely coloured than reference solution BYS7.
4 Acidity or alkalinity The solution is colourless and not more than 0.15 ml of 0.1 M sodium hydroxide is required to change the colour of the solution to pink.
5 Specific optical rotation + 52.5° to+53.3°.
6 Arsenic Not more than 1 ppm.
7 Chlorides Not more than 125 ppm.
8 Sulphite Specified test.
9 Barium Any opalescence in the solution is not more intense than that in a mixture of 10 ml of solution A and 1 ml of water.
10 Foreign sugars, soluble starch and dextrins The appearance of the solution does not change on cooling.
11 Sulphated ash Not more than 0.1%.
12 Water Not more than 1.0%.

PACKAGING

MOLSUGAR™ DEX is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside and is provided with a barcoded label and a tamper-evident seal.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
